Sukinda: Residents of Sukinda village of Jajpur district have set an example for others by constructing the main road connecting NH-53 with industrial areas and mining areas by collaborating with Bhim Army workers under the leadership of Rajesh Mallick.
The villagers said that they were tired of the state’s apathy and decided to build the road by themselves.
They claim to have approached the government several times but their requests were never considered. The communication woes worsened with erratic rains. After the district administration turned a blind eye to their woes despite repeated requests for a road to remain connected to industrial areas and mining areas, they collected money and constructed a pucca road for all-weather road connectivity by filling up the potholes with Murrum soil, sand and stones.
“We have been suffering for years to remain connected with other places. However, the government did nothing to improve the situation. Despite our repeated requests, the district administration did not pay any attention. Later, we decided to construct a road on our own,” said a villager.
