Bhubaneswar: With a view to smoothen the school learning system, the state government will introduce class XI in a few selected high schools from the next academic session (2018-19).
The government has initiated this step to streamline the school education system following the transfer of Plus II classes to School and Mass Education (S&ME) Department from Higher Education Department, official sources said here Sunday.
A decision in this regard was taken at a high-level meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi here recently.
The S&ME department has been asked to identify the schools having necessary infrastructure by the end of January 2018 so that the process can be started to execute the decision, the source said.
The Zilla High Schools functioning in 13 undivided district headquarters would be considered for introducing class XI on a pilot project basis.
Similarly, the junior lecturers, who have been taking classes in Plus II section will continue with the School and Mass Education Department on deployment basis.
Besides, the government has also asked the revenue officers to indentify ‘stand alone’ Plus II colleges so that they can be transferred to the S&ME department soon, the sources said.
