Rourkela: Goods and Services Tax (GST) officials Tuesday raided a Rourkela-based jewellery shop to collect the fine imposed on it last November. The officials seized ornaments corresponding to the value of the fine imposed earlier.
The GST team led by commissioner GST enforcement Jagdish Shaw raided the premises of Kanak Alankar, near Old Taxi Stand in Old Rourkela around 10:30am.
The team was there to collect Rs 67 lakh. Speaking to the media, deputy commissioner said, “We are here to collect the fine, which was imposed on him last November. At that time, we had seized some ornaments of corresponding value and now we have come to take that.”
The official said the raid then was conducted as the shop owner had failed to produce any purchase invoice or sale invoice or any account of that.
He also said, “They were selling goods without any receipt. So, we made a tax purchase and caught them.”
