Bhubaneswar: To provide training in newly opened teacher training institutes, the government has decided to engage guest faculties till the recruitment of permanent faculties.
To meet the growing demand of teachers, the state government approved 250 B Ed seats in five District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs).
There are 50 seats each for B Ed course in DIETs at Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal and Jajpur.
Besides, 100 seats for Bachelor of Physical Education (BP Ed) course have been approved at DIET Cuttack and 50 seats for Diploma in Art Education in DIET Sundargarh.
At present, the institutions are giving diploma in elementary education (previously CT) courses and they do not have requisite staff for teaching B Ed, BP Ed and DA Ed courses.
The guest faculties are entitled to remuneration at the rate of `400 per class subject to a maximum of `15,000 per month. The art and physical education instructors are entitled for a consolidated remuneration of `9,300 per month.
Besides, yoga and sports trainers will be paid `15,000 per month subject to the condition that they have to provide 20 days service in a month (excluding holidays).
Similarly, the government has decided to engage 46 guest faculties in 14 Institutes of Advanced Studies in Education (IASEs) and Colleges of Teacher Education (CTEs).
The department has requested the Orissa Public Service Commission to recruit 113 permanent lecturers for the institutes.
