Gunman kills four persons in a shooting at a bar in Kansas City

Washington: Four persons have been killed in a shooting at a bar in Kansas City in the US state of Kansas, reports said here early Sunday morning.

Police said in a tweet that five other persons were wounded during the incident, but did not specify the venue where it had taken place, the ‘BBC’ reported, Sunday. Police told the ‘BBC’ that the suspect, a Hispanic man, was on the run after the incident. Authorities however, said that they do not know if there is more than one shooter. The motive for the shooting is also unknown.

Further details about the motive and whereabouts of the gunman are still unclear. Local media reported that a handgun was used during the shooting at Tequila KC, a bar in the city centre.

It comes just weeks after two separate shootings in Texas, which left 44 people dead.

So far this year, the US has been hit by more than 40 mass shootings – defined since 2012 as incidents that kill at least three people.

Meanwhile ‘KSHB-TV’ reported that officers were called Sunday at 1.30am to the ‘Tequila KC Bar’ for a shooting.

Police said someone entered the bar and opened fire randomly. Four people were killed on the spot. Five others were taken to a hospital in stable condition for treatment.
