Bhubaneswar, June 13: In an unprecedented development, Orissa Governor SC Jamir received a threat letter which reportedly said to abdicate his office within 15 days or else face dire consequences.
Twin city Police Commissioner YB Khurania told Orissa POST that it is matter of great security concern and they are investigating it.
“It seems the letter was sent from Jharkhand. In the past Jharkhand governor and other dignitaries of the state had also received such threat letters,” the Police Commissioner said.
Police sources said Raj Bhawan here received the letter from two persons allegedly named Ravindra Verma and Mantu in a sealed envelope by post from Giridih district in Jharkhand. The duo identified themselves as cadres of the banned CPI (Maoist) and had also threatened that they will blow up the Raj Bhawan.
“The miscreants in their letter, which was written in Hindi, had mentioned the address of Raj Bhawan in Cuttack. However, since the letter was addressed to Orissa Governor, it was delivered here,” they added.
