Mumbai: Aashiqui actor Rahul Roy celebrates his birthday today. It is well known that filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt made Rahul Roy a star. But very few people know the story behind his stardom. The songs of his first film Aashiqui are still remembered even now like the way they used to be in the 1990s. Rahul was paired with actress Anu Aggarwal in the film.
In Hindi film industry, for even a small role, aspiring actors have to wait for years. However, Rahul was fortunate. He did not have to struggle to get into the film industry. Mahesh Bhatt himself offered Aashiqui to him within the first 20 minutes of their meeting.
Rahul became a big star after his first film. However, he did not get any fresh offer for the next eight months and his patience was on the verge of breaking. Then the plethora of offers started coming in. In two weeks he was offered 60 films. Rahul signed 47 movies. Later on however, he had to return the advance amount to many producers as he did not have the time to shoot.

After his debut film, none of the other movies had the same kind of success. However, his popularity never waned. It can be gauged by the fact that Rahul joined the Bigg Boss show in 2006. He emerged winner of the first season of Bigg Boss.

Currently, Rahul’s health is not holding up. He suffered a brain stroke during the shooting of the upcoming film LAC in November, which was being shot in Kargil. Rahul was discharged January 6 this year after being in the hospital for about 45 days. The doctor had told that he would be cured in about 6-7 months.
Today, through social media, Rahul has thanked his fans for their blessings and wishes.
