Mumbai: Sona Mohapatra is known for her melodious voice and is one of the most outspoken Hindi film celebrities. Because of this, she sometimes lands in controversies.

Born in 1976 in Cuttack, Odisha, Sona first came into the limelight with Aamir Khan’s show Satyamev Jayate. He gained popularity with ‘Mujhe kya Bechega Rupaiya’ in ‘Satyamev Jayate’. After this, she got praise for singing the song ‘Jiya Laage Na’ from the Aamir Khan-starrer film Talaash. The song ‘Ambarsariya’ from ‘Fukrey’ is one of her most popular songs.

Sona is married to music composer Ram Sampath. Sona’s voice separates her from other singers, but she failed to get the fame she deserves. One of the reasons for this is that her name is often associated with controversy.

Sona came into the limelight when she had a fight with Salman Khan. Actually, Salman Khan said that he felt like a raped woman after the extremely gruelling shoot for the film ‘Sultan. Later, she received rape threats on social media from Salman Khan fans.

Sona had alleged that ‘after criticising Salman Khan on social media, she received rape threats more than 1,000 times in 48 hours. Her morphed nude photos were forwarded to her, which shows how much poison is mixed in our society.
