Yash’s childhood days were spent in Mysore, where he did his pre university course (PUC) in Mahajana Education Society (MES),and after finishing his studies, he joined the Benaka drama troupe which was formed by noted dramatist B. V. Karanth. He started his career with a Kannada TV serial named Nanda Gokula. After this he acted in many TV shows.
Yash was given his first film by director Shashank for his work in TV shows. The film was Moggina Manasu. He played a supporting role with actress Radhika Pandit in this film. Yash’s first commercial hit film was Modalasala. After this he acted in many more hits. However, his film KGF Chapter 1 made Yash’s career. This film brought him tremendous success and today his fan following is unprecedented.

Yash married actress Radhika Pandit. The duo fell in love during the shooting of Mr and Mrs Ramachari.
They got engaged 12 August 2016 in Goa. They then married in a private ceremony 9 December 2016 in Bangalore. They have two children together.
