Koraput: Hardcore Maoist, Dhananjay Gopa alias Sudhir (27), has surrendered before the police, DIG (south-western range) Himanshu Lal said at a press conference here Sunday.
Sudhir is a native of MPV-31 under Kalimela police station in Malkangiri district.
The state government has announced a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head. Sudhir has 27 cases of murder, exchange of fire and arson against his name at different police stations.
He joined the Kalimela Dalam of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) in 2009 and was active in the group till 2014. After that, he worked in the Gumma area committee.
SP, Koraput, Kanwar Vishal Singh, SP, Malkangiri, Jagmohan Meena and IPS probationer Sagarika Nath were present at the press conference.
