New Delhi, June 22: Union Enviornment and Forest Minister Harsh Vardhan Thursday tried to allay fears of the citizens relating to the new norms of ban of buying cattles for the purpose of slaughtering by ensuring taking into consideration interests of others.
He was speaking at a programme in the national capital organised by the Survey of India. He said that his government is no mood to keep anybody unsatisfied on the new set of rules which will govern the sale and purchase of cattles in the Indian markets.
“We are still in the process of receiving suggestions from different stakeholders. We have attempted to modify it keeping in mind the Suprme Court orders. But we can assure that we will not keep a single person unsatisfied,” said Harsh Vardhan who has recently taken over the environment ministry after the demise of the former environment minister Anil Madhav Dave.
The minister meanwhile also said, “Trading in wildlife articles is the third largest trade in the world. Illegal trade of animal parts and other wildlife crimes are being taken very seriously and such criminals will not be spared at any cost.”
His statement comes at time when the animal traders have apprehensions over the new rules which can forbid buying and selling cattle in the market for slaughtering besides many others norms which had been framed to prevent atrocities against animals.
He also appreciated the recent seizure of wildlife articles in ‘Wildnet’ operations in Noida conducted Wednesday evening by Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Harsh Vardhan termed the operations as a timely and appreciable intervention and cited such earlier successful operations in MP, Gujarat and Orissa.
