Cuttack, March 12: Orissa High Court Thursday asked the state government for all the documents related to the home department’s audit on the case related to alleged financial irregularities committed by former DGP Prakash Mishra during his tenure as the chairman and managing director of Orissa Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC) from 2006 to 2009.
A bench of justice Subash Chandra Parija also directed the vigilance department to submit a report on the financial irregularities audit conducted by it.
The High court’s directives came after Mishra’s lawyer, Sanjit Mohanty, stated that the audit by the home department had stated insufficient ground for prosecuting Mishra in the case of financial irregularities committed during his tenure as CMD of OPHWC. Justice Parija posted the next date of hearing in the case to March 24. Earlier, the vigilance department March 10 had submitted the interim report on the alleged graft case against Mishra, who is now the DGP of the Central Reserve Police Force .
Mishra is facing the vigilance case for allegedly showing undue favours to some suppliers in 2006, thereby causing pecuniary loss to the state exchequer.
