Bhadrak: While the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Bhadrak often remains in the news for all wrong reasons, another incident has sparked fresh tension on its premises, Saturday.
According to reports, post-mortem of two dead bodies was conducted Saturday afternoon following which a row sparked over which dead body will be taken on the hearse vehicle first.
The tension turned violent when the irate mob ransacked the vehicle and broke its windshield. Allegedly they also verbally abused and manhandled an on-duty doctor of the outdoor ward.
On receipt of information, Bhadrak Town Police reached the spot, pacified the mob, and restored normalcy. Police have also detained four persons in connection of the violence.
As per the hospital authorities, after post-mortem of a body, family members of the deceased deposited the required amount for availing hearse service to take the body to Tihidi area.
Meanwhile, after autopsy the body of another deceased from Kaupur village also reached near the vehicle, following which the family members entered into an altercation with the hearse driver while they insisted the driver to take the body of their deceased family member first.
When Dr Deepak Kumar Jena of outdoor ward tried to pacify them, they allegedly abused him verbally and physically.
Police have started an investigation into the matter and are interrogating the detained persons.
