Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: Heartthrob Arindam Roy is all set to turn producer with his first venture under Ratna Films. The actor is producing the movie Kalki starring the versatile Riya and himself in the lead pair.
The actor made the formal announcement during the mahurat of the movie Monday.
Directed by Tapas Sargharia of Rumku Jhumana, Ishq Tu Hi Tu and Pahili Raja fame, the film features senior artistes like Pradyumna Lenka, Harihara Mohapatra, Swastik Mishra and Babu Pradhan. Besides, the film is also introducing Miss Orissa winner Jyotirmayee. Bibhuti Bhushan Barik is the music director.
Talking about the movie, scriptwriter Bharadwaj Panda told Orissa POST, “The story of the film revolves around Jagannath culture and depicts how the tradition of playing ganjapa cards is dying a slow death. It depicts how the poor people bear the brunt of existence inflicted on them by the rich.”
“In this dog-eat-dog world, powerful people do not leave a single chance to dominate and torture the downtrodden. They forget that someone else is there who is the most powerful and he will punish the wrongdoers at the end of the day. This is the message the movie will convey,” said Panda.
Pradyumna Lenka, who was present on the occasion, said, “I am happy to be a part of the movie produced by Arindam. Arindam, who has earlier mesmerised the audience with his performances, is all set don the producer’s hat. I am sure he will do justice to the job. The concept is unique and so I just said yes after hearing the script. It’s a pure original Oriya movie and I hope people will love it.”
Standout comedian Hari said nowadays Oriya movies do not have the distinctive Oriya flavour as they are dubbed and translated from other languages. “It is the media who creates such buzz among people. It’s not true that all films are dubbed and translated. This movie is a case in point and I hope the audience will enjoy the movie,” he stated.
The producer-cum-male protagonist Arindam said, “I need cooperation from everyone and hope my film will entertain audience.”
