Bhubaneswar, Oct 3: The Meteorological Centre here Friday predicted heavy rainfall at some places in the state beginning October 5 due to formation of a possible low pressure area over Bay of Bengal in the next 48 to 72 hours.
An upper air cyclonic circulation persisted over the west-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast which may build up into a low pressure area causing heavy rain. “The fresh system is unlikely to trigger copious rain for the entire state. However, southern and interior parts may not be affected by it,” said Met director Sarat Sahu.
“The system which emerged from the Andaman Sea recently and reached the west-central Bay does not have the capability to intensify further. The system may cause rain for a day or two,” said Sahu.
Meanwhile, the hot and humid weather continued to bother people across the state with weather officials tracing 12.3 mm rain over the capital city. Weather over most other parts of the state remained dry.
The Met office further predicted cloudy skies for Bhubaneswar and its adjoining areas in the next 24 hours which may accompany rain or thundershower with it. Maximum and minimum temperature may remain around 33° and 25° Celsius over the city respectively Saturday.
