Chhatrapur: Brahmapur Vigilance officials Saturday arrested ICDS Supervisor B. Uma Patro and Junior Revenue Assistant (JRA) Narasingha Behera, posted at the CDPO office in Hinjilikatu, for allegedly demanding and accepting a 30,000 bribe.
According to Vigilance officials, the accused demanded the money from an Anganwadi worker for releasing 11 months’ house rent for an Anganwadi centre. They allegedly threatened to withhold the payment if the worker failed to pay the bribe.
The worker subsequently informed the Vigilance authorities. Acting on the complaint, officials caught Patro and Behera while allegedly accepting the money inside the CDPO office. Simultaneous searches were conducted at their residential premises to check for disproportionate assets.
A case (10/2026) has been registered at the Brahmapur Vigilance police station. Further investigation is underway.
