Kendrapara: Wanted criminal Bibhu Sahoo alias Pratap Sahoo was arrested in an encounter with the Kendrapara police near Jamunabad under Marshaghai police limits in this district late Wednesday night.
Sahoo received bullet injuries on his legs and was admitted to Kendrapara district hospital. Later he was shifted to SCB in Cuttack.
Police received information that Bibhu was waiting for someone near Jamunabad. A special squad of the district police led by SI PK. Kanungo and Korua IIC Sk. Samsud and his team did the encounter. Seeing the police, Sahu started firing at them. In retaliation, the cops fired back.
A pistol, two bullets and a bag were seized from him. As many as 40 cases of murder, bombing, tender fixing and shootout were pending against him at different police stations.
Notably, superintendent of police Sarthak Sarangi had an encounter with him April 9, 2013.
