Sambalpur: Notorious criminal Tridev Bag was the injured during an encounter with the police on Kuluthakani-Dhanakauda road in this district Tuesday and was subsequently arrested.
Tridev sustained bullet injuries on his right leg and is undergoing treatment at Sadar hospital here.
Police have also arrested two of his associates. A country-made pistol, live bullets, three gold chains, three mobile phones and a bike were seized from the gang’s possession.
The police had been on a look out for Tridev in eight cases pending against him at various police stations. They were tipped off that Tridev and some his associates were planning a robbery on Kuluskani-Dhanakauda road. A team of Sambalpur police conducted a raid where the criminals were allegedly hiding. Seeing the cops, Tridev opened fire in his bid to escape. It forced the police to retaliate and in the process, Tridev was injured.
