Nabrangpur: A man who has been diagnosed HIV positive and his family have been socially ostracised by a village in this district.
The man, hailing from Aunli village under Papadahandi block, and his family have even been barred from drawing water from the well or buying grocery from shops in the village.
They have also been barred from attending social functions in the village, reports said.
The patient, who was diagnosed HIV positive in 2016, has been getting free medicines from the government.
However, he has been totally ostracised by the villagers recently.
The man lodged a complaint against four villagers at the Maidalpur Outpost. He alleged that the four have spread rumours regarding his disease, following which he and his family have been denied access to several places in the village.
Some villagers even threatened that if he and his family would not leave the village, they would burn his house, the complaint added.
