Bhubaneswar: Police Sunday raided ‘Dug Out’, a hookah bar on the top floor of a shopping mall at Nayapalli. Two hookahs with pipes, some flavoured articles and documents were seized from the prohibited spot. The flavoured articles have been sent for examination to detect presence of narcotic substance or other banned products. The owner of the bar was also fined `200 under the Cigarettes and other Tobacco products Act (COTPA).
According to police, incriminating documents submitted by the bar owner were examined and action would be taken against him if tests ascertain presence of nicotine and other illegal substances in the seized goods. Earlier, similar raids were conducted at various hookah lounges wherein nicotine and tobacco products were reported from Sahid Nagar, Kharavela Nagar, Info City and Cuttack Road.
