Have you ever heard of a hotel where people move from one country to another just by twisting and turning in sleep? Yes, this is not a joke but a reality. The name of this hotel is ‘Hotel Arbez’.
The Hotel Arbez Franco-Suisse straddles the international border between France and Switzerland in the tiny village of La Cure. Being geographically located in two countries, Hotel Abrez has two addresses.
The border of France and Switzerland passes through this hotel. People go from one country to another just by getting inside this hotel.
The hotel’s bar falls in Switzerland and some of the bathrooms in France.
All the rooms in this hotel are divided into two parts. Double beds in the rooms are placed in such a way that half of it falls in France and other half in Switzerland.
The place where this hotel is built came into existence in the year 1862. There used to be a grocery store on the site of the hotel which was owned by a French citizen named Ponthus and Ponthus’ heirs after falling on hard times sold the property to Jules-Jean Arbeze 1921 who remodeled it and reopened it as a hotel. Now this hotel has become a landmark of both France and Switzerland.
