According to sources, the deceased was identified as Sajjan Mittal. He was the owner of Hotel Basera located at Gandhi Road here.

Sajjan was returning to his home from the hotel late in the night. Two bike-borne miscreants ambushed him in front of his house. The two miscreants took the hotel owner inside his house. Later, they attacked him on his head with an iron rod. The duo left the spot soon after committing the crime, an official of the local police station said.

A profusely bleeding Sajjan was immediately rushed to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in the city in critical condition. The victim succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at around 3.00am, a doctor treating him at the IGH expressed.

Plant Site police have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe. Business rivalry could be a probable cause behind the murder, the police station sources said.

More details are still awaited as the investigation is underway.
