Cuttack, March 16: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) has made adequate arrangements to ensure that there are no hiccups during the evaluation of answer sheets of the recently-concluded HSC examinations, which are to be done in 66 centres across the state, according to BSE president Dakshya Prasad Nanda.
The evaluators and scrutinisers have reached the centres and have been imparted training for the evaluation, which is to begin Tuesday.
This assumes significance as BSE has faced embarrassment in the past over erroneous evaluation of HSC answer sheets, which had led to widespread criticism and resentment among the candidates.
As one step towards preventing the recurrence of such instances, mobile phones have been banned in evaluation centres this year.
Earlier, Nanda had informed that 15,982 examiners have been engaged for evaluation of the answer sheets of the examination that concluded March 10. Of these, 12,267 assistant examiners, 2,229 assistant chief examiners, 743 chief examiners and 743 scrutinisers would be engaged for evaluation in 743 HSC units and 32 Madhyama units, with each HSC unit having one chief examiner, one scrutinizer and three assistant chief examiners.
There will be 15 examiners for each subject, while for social studies and science, a maximum of 18 examiners would be engaged for the evaluation that would be done from 9.30 am to 5 pm, Nanda said, adding that the Board has set a target of completing the evaluation in eight-ten days.
Nanda said the standard mark foil would be followed during evaluation but added that non-standard mark foil would be used when necessary.
In the standard mark foil, the examiners will only write the marks in numbers and words while in non-standard mark foil, they have to mention the roll number of the candidate, subject and marks awarded for each question.
The BSE president had said the Board this year has replaced 17 centre superintendents, expelled three centre superintendents and six invigilators for dereliction of duty.
