HSC MIL (Odia) paper leaked: Complaint lodged against 5 teachers of Nuapada

Nuapada: A day after the Odia question paper of Matric went viral on social media, just 10 minutes after the commencement of the HSC exam, complaints have been filed against five teachers of two schools in Nuapada district Saturday.

The complaint alleges the five teachers behind making the question paper viral. Last year, the question papers had gone viral after one hour of commencement of the exam. It was 10 minutes, this year that clearly shows the negligence of the education department, guardians complained.

“So far, eight teachers, including four examination centre superintendents and four invigilators of Karangamal High School and Gopitahpur High School in Bonada block of Nuapada and Sudarshan Vidyabhavan in Dhenkanal and Bandhugaon High School in Koraput district have been suspended and police complaints have been lodged against them,” said Indramani Panigrahi, Boden Block Education Officer (BEO).

In Nuapada, police detained the superintendent and two invigilators of Karangamala High School and Superintendent and Sports teacher of Litisargi High School. The action was taken after the BEO, acting on the directives of the Nuapada District Education Officer, filed a written complaint against them.

However, the District Education Officers of Dhenkanal and Koraput district are yet to file police complaints against school Superintendent and invigilators of two other exam centres.

Yesterday, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) President Jahan Ara Begum had directed the concerned DEOs to file police complaints against superintendent and invigilators of four examination centres after the question paper went viral on social media in the districts.

“New centre superintendents and invigilators have been appointed and the DEOs have been asked to file police complaint against the erring officials,” Begum had said yesterday.

Meanwhile, concerns are being raised over the security of question papers with the next examination scheduled to be held February 25 (Monday).

It is pertinent to mention that an hour after the commencement of the Matriculation examination across Odisha, question papers of Odia reportedly surfaced on social media in Nuapada district and Kamakhyanagar of Dhenkanal district.

On the other hand, Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra made it clear that he would order a probe into the incident to check whether or not the question paper circulated on social media was the original question paper.

He further said that there is a ban on the use of cell phones by staff other than the centre superintendents at the examination centres and even the centre superintendents have been asked to keep their phones switched off.
