IIIT-Bhubaneswar roped in for web security

Bhubaneswar: The International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar (IIITB) has decided to prepare a roadmap for the next 10 years to become a centre of excellence.

The decision was taken at the Board of Governors meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary A P Padhi here Wednesday wherein director of the institute Gopal K Nayak outlined the issues for discussion.

Reviewing the path already trodden by the institute so far, Padhi advised the director and faculty members to do a visioning exercise for the next 10 years and prepare the roadmap within six months. Padhi asked the officials of the institute to focus and invest more on attracting bright students and faculties. 

It was decided that the institute would work as a software and website security auditor of various government departments. Padhi directed the institute to conduct security audit at least twice a year and protect the websites from possible hackings.

Participating in the discussion, Chairman of Orissa Skill Development Authority Subroto Bagchi said IIITB must scale up its activities to occupy a position in international arena and see that technology for future flows out from its laboratory. He advised the officials to develop its campus and ecosystem to a place of pride visit by the IT champions and world luminaries.   

As of now, more than 1300 pass outs from the institute and have proved their worth in the fields of IT, innovation and entrepreneurship. The institute has achieved 100 per cent placement by making the students industry fit.
