IMD issues yellow warning for these districts

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of India Meteorological Department has issued yellow warning for 12 districts for Sunday and Monday.

Since the cyclonic circulation lying over Northwest of Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of North Odisha, some parts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts are likely to witness intense spall of rain. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places of these districts.

Meanwhile, rain has already started in some districts including Khurda.

The fresh alert has triggered fear among the residents of 15 villages of Orabarsingh, Narangarh and Brajamohanpur panchayats in Khurda district as they have already been waterlogged for five days now. The release of floodwater from Hirakud dam has created a flood like situation in those villages with floodwater flowing five to six metres above the village roads.

The 15 waterlogged villages include nine villages of Orabarsingh panchayat, four villages of Narangarh panchayat and two villages of Brajamohanpur panchayat. Resentment is brewing among the affected villagers since the administration is yet to make arrangements for relief. While the villagers are starving, the condition of domestic animals is learnt to be pathetic.
