Bhubaneswar: Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation, some parts of Odisha will experience thunderstorm with lightning Thursday.
“There is a cyclonic circulation over the north coastal Andhra Pradesh and in Odisha. With this circulation, we are expecting, light to moderate rainfall over many places in south and coastal Odisha and some other districts like Mayurbhanj and Balasore. There are also some chances of lightning and thunderstorms over some districts,” Shashikant, IMD scientist said.
Thunderstorm with lightning will occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Rayagada, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Puri, Ganjam, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Bolngir, Kandhamal.
Southwest monsoon has been active over Odisha and light to moderate rainfall has occurred at many places over the districts of Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places over the district of Jharsuguda of north interior Odisha in past 24 hours.
The rainfall and lightning are likely to continue for 48 hours, after that the thunderstorm and rainfall is likely to decrease, he added.
