Mumbai: Harnaaz Sandhu created history Monday after being crowned Miss Universe 2021. The evergreen Sandhu beat Paraguay’s Nadia Ferreira and South Africa’s Lalela Mswane to win the coveted title.
For the grand finale, Harnaaz was dressed in a shimmery gown which was designed by transwoman, designer Saisha Shinde. Needless to mention, the 21-year-old beauty queen looked gorgeous in her attire.
Pictures from the crowning moment have gone crazy viral on social media and everyone loved the gown she wore. For the event, Harnaaz was dressed in a beige and silver embellished gown. The sheer body-hugging gown featured a plunging V-neckline and a long flowy train. The bedazzled ensemble featured short sleeves.

She accessorised her look with stone-studded drop earrings. Harnaaz opted for a dewy base, pink blush cheeks, nude lipstick and bold eye makeup.
Swapnil Shinde, who designed Harnaaz’s gown, came out as a transwoman and introduced herself as Saisha Shinde on Instagram in January this year. Saisha is known for styling many actors like Kareena Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. She is also known for costume designing in films like Fashion.
Only two Indians have won the Miss Universe title before Harnaaz – Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.
A Chandigarh-based model, Harnaaz Sandhu has won several beauty pageants in the past. She has been crowned Miss Diva 2021 and Femina Miss India Punjab 2019. She was also placed in the Top 12 at Femina Miss India 2019.
