Johor Bahru (Malaysia): Indian junior men’s hockey team continued their winning streak and mauled a hapless USA 22-0 to register their third consecutive victory at the VIIth Sultan of Johor Cup here, Wednesday.
It was raining goals for India as 10 different players got their names on the scoresheet. The win helped India to climb to the top of the points table with nine points from three matches.
Harmanjit Singh (25th, 26th, 40th, 45th, 52nd minutes) scored five goals while Abhishek (28th, 37th, 38th, 45th) struck four on target. Vishal Antil (second, 30th, 44th) and Dilpreet Singh (third, 54th, 59th) scored three goals. It is rare indeed to see four players score hat-tricks in the same match, but that happened here Wednesday. The other goals were scored by Maninder Singh (42nd, 43rd), Pratap Lakra (second), Rabichandra Moirangthem (seventh), Raushan Kumar (37th), Shilanand Lakra (47th) and Vivek Prasad (48th).
Prior to this match, the Americans had conceded a total of 30 goals in their first two games going down to Australia 0-19 and Great Britain won 0-11.
India will take the win as good preparation for their tough upcoming matches against the likes of Australia which will be played Thursday, and Great Britain.
