Bhubaneswar, November 1: India Post hopes to generate revenue of Rs 110 crore from various business segments during this financial year in the state, a top official of the department said. “We are hopeful to generate a revenue of Rs 110 crore during this fiscal from business development (BD) and non business development (non BD) segments,” an official of the department told Orissa post.
Elaborating on various segments, the official said the BD segment comprises premium products like business post, speed post, express parcel post and logistics post among others whereas the non BD segment comprises of money orders, IPO, and register letters among others. Revenue target in BD segment has been set at Rs 48.30 crore, while it has been set at Rs 61.70 crore for the non BD segment.
“We have realised around Rs 33 crore in September quarter of this fiscal against Rs 35 crore over the same period last fiscal. Revenue from BD segment was at Rs 19.12 crore in second quarter against Rs 16.13 crore reported during the last fiscal. Meantime, revenue from non-BD segment was at Rs 13.40 crored during the Sept quarter. Dip in growth during the first half was due to low response in both of the segments,” the official said.
On performance in last fiscal, the official said, it has realised a total revenue of Rs 84.62 crore. “The department posted a revenue of Rs 47.47 crore in non-BD segment and Rs 37.15 crore in the BD segment last fiscal,” he added. Taking on revenue expectations from Savings and Cash Certificates (SBCC) segment, the official said it has set a target of Rs 319 crore this fiscal. “We are yet to compile the half yearly revenue figure from the SBCC segment during this fiscal,” he added.
