Champua: A team of 35 forest officials treated an injured elephant, which had been roaming in Champua forest range of Keonjhar district, after a long search for it.
Locals of Saragtalia village had spotted the injured elephant in Chamakpur forest in Balibandh section a week ago and reported the matter to the forest department. However, the animal could not be traced out even after a search operation.
Finally, the pachyderm was found near KC Pradhan mines. The animal was tranquilised. The team with help of Dr Khaling Changma (Similpal Tiger Project) attended to the animal. Its condition was stated stable.
2 hurt in tusker attack
Telkoi: A tusker strayed into Akula Bazaar under Telkoi forest range in Keonjhar district in the wee hours of Sunday and attacked Hatakishore Behera and Panchanan Behera while they were going to a forest. However, the duo managed to escape with minor injuries. Forest officials were deployed in the area to drive away the animal.
