Injury worries plague ATK

Margao, Oct 6: FC Goa will look to continue their winning start at home as they take on defending champions Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) in their second ISL-II game here Wednesday at the Nehru Stadium here. Both teams won their opening encounters.

FC Goa coach Zico is aware that his team had a bad start last year and is now looking to make amends as they set their eyes to win the title this time.

“We have started well winning our first match and are now looking to win get full points in our next two matches at home before we move out. It will certainly increase the confidence of the team,” Zico stated here Tuesday.

“Last year, we were unlucky not to win the semifinals against ATK. This year, both teams have made lots of changes. The one which utlises the chances better will win. There are no favourites,” the legendary Brazilian added.

FC Goa not only have the advantage of playing at home but also have no injury worries as they will field the same side they played in the last game. But the visitors will be without their key striker Helder Postiga who got injured in the last match and is ruled out for at least three weeks due to a hamstring injury. Midfielder Jewel Raja, defenders Tiri and Josemi too are ruled out of Wednesday’s game.

But then ATK coach Antonio Habas is not willing to show his apprehensions. “Injuries are a part and parcel of football,” Habas stated here Tuesday. “You have got to do with what you have. My first aim will definitely be not to lose the game. I want to make the game safe before going for three points. In Postiga’s absence (Iain) Hume will lead the attack.”
