Bangalore, March 18: Talented Maharastra batsman, Kedar Jadhav (78, 106b, 13×4) bailed out Rest of India (RoI) from a precarious situation and helped them take a slender lead of 20 runs over Karnataka on the second day of the Irani Cup here Wednesday.
Jadhav guided his side to 264 after they were reeling at 102 for the loss of five wickets at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The other handy contributions came from Naman Ojha (34), Jayant Yadav (26), Paras Dogra (26) and tail- ender Varun Aaron (25). Karnataka were 39 for no loss at stumps with Ravikumar Samarath (21 batting) and Mayank Agarwal (15 batting) at the crease.
While the RoI lower order did a decent resurrection job, the top order could not do much against Vinay Kumar (3/76), Abhimanyu Mithun (3/46) and Shreyas Gopal (3/51).
Brief scores: Karnataka 244 and 39 for no loss; RoI 264 (Kedar Jadhav 78; A Mithun 3/46, Vinay Kumar 3/76). Match to continue.
