Bhubaneswar: Jagdish Mohanty entered the quarterfinals of the Ist All Odisha 6-Reds Snooker Championships after registering upset victories over Soubhagya Behera and Aswin Patnaik at the 6Pockets Club here Sunday.
Jagdish pipped Soubhagya 4-3 and then thrashed Aswin 4-0. Among others Jiten Sarangi, Subrat Das, Akash Mohapatra, Kunal Agarwal, Rumit Gupta and Mishal Swain also made it to the round of last eight.
Top teams win
Jay Durga Club and Odisha Police registered victories Sunday in their respective matches of the FAO Ist Division League at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
In the first match Jay Durga Club scraped past Radha Raman Club 2-1. Prasanta Kumar Behera (29th) and Sidhant Das (35th) scored a goal each for the winning team while Badha Hembram (30th) got one back for Radha Raman in the 30th minute.
In the second match, Odisha Police defeated Bidanasi Club 3-1. Abhimanyu Pandey (14th), Bijay Ghalan (67th) and Babulal Marandi (76th) scored for Odisha Police. Bohan Majhi (80th) got a consolation goal for Bidanasi.
Bhubaneswar venue
Bhubaneswar will host October 25, an ODI between visually-impaired India and Sri Lanka teams, Odisha Blind Cricket Association informed Sunday. However the venue is yet to be finalised.
44 successful
Forty four participants were successful in the black belt test conducted at the YMCA branch of Utkal Karate School (UKS) in Cuttack, Sunday. UKS founder Hari Patnaik conducted the test.
Fencing Championship
Kritarthi Kotwal, Shreya Gupta and Malvi Arora emerged champions in the cadet girls’ saber event at the 20th Sub-Junior and 15th Cadet National Fencing Championships, which concluded in Cuttack, Sunday.
In cadet boys’ epee Sherjin Rajendran Shanthimol, Siva Magesh, Sathasivan Nirmala and Anmol Pandey clinched gold medals.
Arjun, Prince and Aryan clinched the title in the cadet boys’ saber event.
