Jajpur: A farmer ended his life allegedly due to loan burden at Digambarpur village near Dharmasala in Jajpur district Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Sisir Khatua (38).
According to reports, Khatua had taken loan from private money lenders for the purpose of cultivation in his four acres of land. Finding it difficult to repay the loan, he allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling of a room.
His family members rushed Khatua to the Dharmasala hospital, where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
The police have started an investigation and sent the body for post-mortem.
Similarly, a farmer had committed suicide over crop loss and loan burden at Mangarajpur village near Dharmasala in Jajpur district September 25.
He was identified as Gourang Bal, son of Jayram Bal.
According to reports, Gourang had borrowed loans from banks, microfinance companies and village money lenders to cultivate paddy in five acres of his land. However, he suffered crop loss due to heavy rain and floods.
Later his family members found him hanging from a tree.
