Gondia: A PA special team led by Dhenkanal Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Sanjay Kumar Mohapatra Tuesday inspected Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya at Bishwanathpur in Gondia block following reports of a jaundice outbreak there.

Blood samples of 197 students were collected for laboratory tests. Food safety officer Lopamudra Nayak collected food and water samples too. The team conducted inspections at two private hostels near the school.

Water from a well at one hostel was found to be contaminated, while the owner of the other hostel was found to have locked the premises and fled. Engineers from the Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation department visited the spot to assess drinking water and sanitation facilities. Gondia BDO Pabitra Kumar Behera also took stock of the situation.
