Bhubaneswar, August 19: Jayant Behera (5/66) took a fifer with his excellent spin bowling as Haryana were bundled out for 291 against Orissa on the first day of their two-day long match in the Buchi Babu Invitational cricket tournament in Chennai, Wednesday.
Haryana had a fantastic start as three of their top order batsmen scored half centuries keeping Orissa bowlers at Bay. Rahul Dhawan(76, 149b, 10×4), Chaitanya Bishnoi(57, 87b, 11×4) and Sunny Singh (59, 64b,10×4) batted brilliantly. But with the introduction of spin they all struggled and capitulated. Govind Podder(2/47) also complimented Jayant well with his part time off spin.
In reply, Orissa were nine without loss at stumps on day one. Opener Girija Rout (7 batting) and Natraj Behera (2 batting) were occupying the crease.

Player, coach selected
Lokmohan Routray of Orissa has been selected in the Indian team, Wednesday, for the Asian Presidential Cup Baseball Tournament at Tehran September 9-13. Subash Swain of the state has also been selected in the national team as the coach. “I am excited about my new job. There is also pressure on me to deliver as a coach,” stated Subash.
Sepak Takraw Meet
Orissa State Sepak Takraw Association (OSSTA) will organise a state level tournament at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack August 29. Participants both in the male and the female categories will participate in the competition.
“In a good news to the fans of the state the game has been included in the State Higher Secondary Education,” OSSTA stated through a press release Wednesday.
Mini Marathon
Baripada district administration will organise a State Level Mini Marathon in the district August 29. Ace sprinter of the state Dutee Chand will also participate in the race. Interseted participants can register their names by August 20 at the Baripada Stadium.
