Jharsuguda: Vigilance sleuths Tuesday arrested an Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) on charges of demanding bribe of Rs 5,000 from an employee of the Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital (DHH) here in this district.
She has been identified as Usha Rani Das. The ADMO was caught red-handed by vigilance officials while accepting bribe of Rs 5,000.
According to reports, an employee Debanand Barik had some bills pending. He had approached Usha Rani to pass the bills. However, she allegedly demanded Rs 5,000 as bribe. She threatened not to release the bill when he expressed his inability to pay the amount.
With no option left, Barik approached the Jharsuguda vigilance officials who laid a trap to arrest Usha Rani red-handed. As per plan, Barik took chemical-laced notes and handed over to her. Meanwhile, officials disguised in plain clothes conducted a sudden raid and made the seizure.
Simultaneous raids were also conducted on her residence and office.
