Bhubaneswar: The Union government announced the formation of various parliamentary panels and standing committees for the newly constituted 17th Lok Sabha Friday. As many as 29 MPs from the state have found place as the members of different standing committees.
Former union minister Jual Oram has been appointed as the Chairperson of Parliamentary Committee on Defence with immediate effect. Sambalpur MP Nitesh Gangadeb and Jagatsinghpur MP Rajashree Mallick are also part of this.
Puri MP Pinaki Mishra and Rajya Sabha member Amar Patnaik have been appointed as members of Committee on Finance headed by Jayant Sinha. Kandhamal MP Achyuta Samant and Jajpur MP Sarmistha Sethi have been appointed as members of Committee on External Affairs and Committee on Home Affairs respectively.
Nabarangpur MP Ramesh Majhi and Rajya Sabha MP Prasanna Acharya have been appointed as members of Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture. Keonjhar MP Chandrani Murmu and Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra have found place in Committee on Human Resources Development.
Rajya Sabha MP Ashwini Vaishnaw, N Bhaskar Rao and Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahoo have been appointed as members of Committee on Science & Technology, Environment and Forests. Kalahandi MP Basant Panda and Rajya Sabha MP Prashant Nanda have been appointed as members of Committee on Coal and Steel.
Mayurbhanj MP Bisweswar Tudu and Rajya Sabha member Ranjib Biswal have been appointed as members of Committee on Chemicals & Fertilisers, Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari is part of Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law & Justice. Bhadrak MP Manjulata Mandal is a member of Committee on Commerce.
Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab and Rajya Sabha MP Raghunath Mohapatra were appointed as the member of Committee on Labour. Kendrapara MP Anubhav Mohanty and Balangir MP Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo have been appointed as members of Committee on Railways. Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi and Rajya Sabha MP Narendra Kumar Swain have been appointed as members of Committee on Urban Development and Committee on Water Resources respectively.
Aska MP Pramila Bisoyi and Koraput MP Saptagiri Ulaka have been appointed as members of Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution. Berhampur MP Chandrasekhar Sahoo is part of Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas.
