Judge’s house robbery: Four detained

Cuttack, June 6: The Commissionerate Police, under pressure from several quarters for its failure to maintain law and order in the city got a breakthrough in the case of robbery at the residence of former judge of Orissa High Court, Justice PK Mohanty at sector-11, CDA here.
As per reports, four members of a dacoit gang were detained by the police for interrogation in connection with the case. Twin city police commissioner, RP Sharma informed media the interrogation of the four accused is on. Sharma said the detained persons are from Orissa but refused to elaborate. ‘‘We are not in a position to reveal the details of the gang as efforts are underway to nab the other members of the gang. The details would be provided only after the probe is completed,” he said.
At least seven dacoits wearing black masks barged into the residence of justice Mohanty in the wee hours of May 30.
After breaking into the house, the miscreants had entered Mohanty’s bedroom and asked him and his wife to hand over cash and ornaments. They broke open the cupboard and decamped with valuables worth several lakhs.
They also fled in Mohanty’s Maruti Suzuki Swift car, which was found at Rasulgarh in Bhubaneswar the next morning.
