Kendrapara: A junior clerk of Pattamundai tehsil office in Kendrapara district was arrested while accepting a bribe, Friday. A team led by vigilance DSP Surendra Nath Raiguru nabbed Lingaraj Mohapatra during the criminal act.
Niranjan Patra, a resident of Baghtoila village registered his land but the mutation was pending. Niranjan had applied for a certified copy of mutation application form.
After visiting the tehsil office a number of times without any result he approached Lingaraj who agreed to help him. The clerk however, wanted a bribe of Rs 1000.
Niranjan sought the help of the Vigilance Department following which a trap was laid and Lingaraj was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe money.
The team also conducted simultaneous raids at his parental residence at Ichhapur in Jagatsinghpur district and his rented accommodation at Pattamundai.
