just-the-beginning-for-salah-in-liverpool

London: Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has reassured his fans that his stunning first season is ‘just the beginning’ of his time at the club despite speculation over interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

“It is just the start. This is my first year here and it is the same for some other players. It is just the beginning,” Salah said Thursday.

The Egyptian was awarded Thursday the ‘Player of the Season’ after being voted by both the club’s fans and his teammates before he boarded a flight to collect the Football Writers’ Association’s award here ahead of Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.

The 25-year-old Salah has 43 goals to name for Liverpool in all competitions this season since arriving from Roma last summer. He needs just one more goal to become the outright record-holder for the most strikes in a 38-match season in the Premier League and appears content with life at the club.

“I’m very happy here, everything is fine,” Salah said. “Of course I have got ambitions for the future with Liverpool. As you can see we had a great season, now we are in the Champions League final against Real Madrid and everyone is very excited.”

Salah, who played for Chelsea in the 2014-16 seasons, added that he is happy to prove all the critics wrong who had termed him not suitable for Premier League back then. “I left Chelsea four years ago but it was always in my mind to come back to prove them wrong which I have done,” Salah asserted.

“I’m not the same player. I improved a lot in Rome but I can’t say everything is me. The teammates are maybe different. The coach is tough and they always help me inside and outside the pitch,” added the Egyptian.

I wanted to prove those critics who had said I was not fit for Premier League wrong. I have done that
