Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: Juvenile Club beat Pragati Sporting by nine runs to enter the semifinals of the U-16 Umakanta Garabadu Memorial cricket tournament at the BEM HS Ground here Friday.
Opting to bat first, Juvenile scored 171 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 35 overs with Anil Parida (45, 44b) emerging as the highest scorer. Ansuman Sinha (3/30) was the pick of the bowlers for Pragati Sporting.
In reply, Pragati Sporting were bundled out for 162 in 34.1 overs despite a superb knock by Sanat Tripathy (51, 36b). Man of the match Sidharth Jain (4/20) was the best bowler for Juvenile.
Orissa face Bengal
Despite beating Bengal by 87 runs in their last league match Friday, Orissa will meet the same team in the final of the East Zone Men’s Blind T20 cricket tournament at Ranchi. In a one-sided league game, Orissa, batting first scored 173 for three with Pankaj Bhue (103 n o) getting his second ton on the trot. Bengal could manage only 86 runs for the loss of six wickets.
Hosts in trouble
After the bowlers, Orissa batsmen also failed to deliver the goods as they were reduced to 69 for four in reply MP’s first innings score of 487 on day two of their four-day match at DRIEMS Ground in Cuttack, Friday.
Resuming at their overnight score of 262/5, MP declared their innings on 487 for nine with Rahul Batham (157, 247b, 16×4, 5×6) hitting a marathon century.
In reply, Orissa had a poor start. Only Subrat Samal (33 n o, 60b, 5×4) showed some resistance with the bat.
