Thuamul Rampur: 77th Kalahandi district formation day was observed at the panchayat samiti auditorium in Thuamul Rampur block Sunday, with cultural performances and prize distribution for students who excelled in block-level competitions.
The event featured speeches highlighting the district’s history, heritage and culture. Students from local schools presented cultural programmes, while winners of debate, quiz and essay competitions were felicitated.
However, the celebrations drew criticism from local residents over the absence of the block development officer and alleged “lack of public outreach”. Local media representatives also claimed they were not informed about the event. Residents alleged that the programme was held without adequate public information and attended mainly by block staff, school students and members of local groups.
