Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Bidyapitha rode on a goal each by Siba Prasad Bhoii and Suryakanta Majhi to beat Delhi Public School (DPS) 2-0 at the Unit-VI Boys’ High School Ground here Thursday to enter the final of the MCL Cup Inter-School football tournament. They will meet Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), September 3 for the title.
Though heavy rain made the ground slippery, it could not prevent players from showing their best skills and technique as both the teams matched each other in attack and defence in a keenly-contested affair.
Kalinga Bidyapitha drew first blood in the 35th minute when Siba’s measured shot from inside the box slipped under the hands of the opposition goalkeeper and found the back of the net.
Suryakanta doubled the lead seven minutes later tapping the ball from a long pass much to the surprise of the DPS defenders. However DPS did try to put pressure on opposition in the second half in search of a goal, but the Kalinga Bidyapitha defenders did not allow them to have a clear look at goal.
