Digapahandi: Unrest gripped Khemundi College here after Plus Three students boycotted classes and went on an indefinite strike Monday over alleged wrong evaluation of their answer papers.
The students said many of them failed in the examination due to wrong valuation by the Berhampur University and demanded revaluation.
The students led by Rahul Padhiari, Nandan Rout, Debashis Rath and Suman Kumar Panigrahi met vice-principal Harapriya Pattnaik in the absence of principal Muralidhar Pradhan and submitted a memorandum.
Later, they closed the main gate and staged a demonstration. A delegation of students also met Digapahandi police station IIC Debashis Mohanty and told him about their strike.
Tension struck students after Plus Three second year semester results came out Saturday evening.
Debashis Sethy, a Plus Three third year student, alleged that he was declared failed in the Chemistry practical examination. Similarly, Lakshmi Narayan Sahu, another student, has also been declared failed in Botany practical.
Over half students got only 0 marks in various subjects while others secured less than five.
The vice-principal said the college authorities have not yet received the Plus Three second year semester results published by the university. Notably, 243 students in the science stream and 251 students in arts and commerce streams had appeared for the examination in 2017.
Examination Controller SK Panda ruled out irregularities, saying only Plus Three students securing less than 30 per cent in a subject have been declared failed on the basis of the choice based credit system (CBSS) of the UGC. The principal refused having any knowledge about the new rule.
