Khurda: In a shocking incident, a man killed his wife by slitting her throat with a sharp-edged weapon at his in-laws’ house at Patitapabana Sahi of Gurujanga locality on the outskirts of Khurda town in the district late Saturday night.
The deceased woman has been identified as Indira Priyadarshini Pradhan. The matter came to the fore after the woman’s body was recovered from a pool of blood in her father’s house Sunday morning.
The accused husband Kartik Pradhan has been absconding after committing the crime. According to sources, Kartik used to stay at his in-laws’ house since the past few days.

However, the marital life of Kartik and Indira was not well and the couple had fights over various issues frequently. The accused man always suspected his wife that led to altercations between the couple. The couple broke out in an argument over the same issue Saturday night and things took an ugly turn when Kartik assaulted her physically.
Later, in a fit of rage, Kartik slit Indira’s throat with a sharp-edged weapon before fleeing the spot.
On being informed, the Town police immediately reached the house and launched a probe in this connection. A case has been registered in this connection and a manhunt has been launched to nab Kartik.
