Rayagada: The district administration Wednesday have compensation to the kin of the five people of Lanji and Durgi villages under Bissamcuttack block who died after falling into a sewage tank.
Collector Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar, Rajya Sabha MP N Bhaskar Rao, Koraput Lok Sabha MP Jhina Hikaka, BJD’s Rayagada district in-charge Sanjay Das Burma and others handed over Rs 2 lakh each to the families in their village from the Chief Minster’s Relief Fund.
Besides, Rs 2,000 each was given to two families under National Family Welfare Scheme, Rs 1.30 lakh to four families under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana, Rs 18,700 for 95 working days under MGNREGS, Rs 12,000 for construction of toilets, Rs 2.05 lakh to Banita Takri, wife of one of the deceased, under a scheme for construction workers.
Earlier, the district administration had released Rs 10,000 each for the bereaved families from the Red Cross Fund and Rs 2,000 each under the Harishchandra Yojana.
