Kiran Manisha in title contention

Bhubaneswar, Dec 14: WGM Kiran Manisha Mohanty remained in title contention after maintaining her joint top spot by forcing a draw with higher-rated WGM Mary Ann Gomes of West Bengal in the seventh and the penultimate round match of the Bhubaneswar All India Open Fide Rating Women’s Chess Tournament here Monday. Sharing the top position with her is Mary and Ankitha Goud Palle of Andhra Pradesh with 5.5 points each.
WFM Rutumbara Bidhar is sharing the joint second spot along with four others with five points apiece. Rutumbara outwitted A Harshini of Tamil Nadu in a keenly-contested match. Aparajita Gochhikar with 4.5 points is sharing the joint third spot along with two others. Aparajita forced Nisha Mohota of PSPB to share points with her.

Radha Raman win
Riding on a brace by striker Krishanu Das, Radha Raman Club registered a convincing 4-1 victory over Independent Club in a match of the FAO First Division Super League at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Monday. Emanuel Eze and Anand Lakra got the other two goals. Somnath Nayak got one back for Independent.

Mahesh shines
Mahesh Sahoo scored five goals including a hat-trick to help Orissa thrash Maharashtra by 9-1 goals in a match of the Postal Football Tournament at Bangalore, Monday. Shakti Singh also scored a brace, while Sk. Moin and DS Badra found the back of the net once each in this completely one-sided match.
