Bhubaneswar: KISS School and Bajrang Bali Junior Club (BBJC) entered the semifinals of the Biju Patnaik Gold Cup football tournament winning their respective matches at the Unit-VI High School Ground here, Monday.
KISS School defeated Balasore Sports Hostel (BSH) 1-0 with Kuna Ram Soren scoring all-important goal in the 20th minute. In the other game, BBJC defeated Sundargarh Sports Hostel (SSH) by an identical margin. Manoj Majhi scored for BBJC in the 50th minute.
KISS will meet Bolangir Sports Hostel and BBJC will face Nayagarh Sports Hostel in the semifinals to be played Tuesday.
U-16 squad announced
Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) announced Monday, a 15-member U-16 squad for the match against Jharkhand in the Vijay Merchant Trophy East Zone League, to be played December 7-9 at Jamshedpur.
The squad: Surya Mohapatra (C), Binayak Mohanty, Biswajit Patra, Anwesh Tripathy, Manitej Mohanty, Kevin Christropher, Siddharth Nayak, Pratyush Pradhan, Bikash Naik, Sushil Barik, Santanu Debata, Ashutosh Chhuria, Suraj Behera, Subham Shree and Sudarshan Swain.
Basketball tourney
The 59th Nalco Cup Senior State Basketball Championships for both men and women started at JNIS and Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Monday. Ajay Barik, deputy commissioner, Cuttack Municipal Corporation inaugurated the tournament.
